South East Hockey - Mens Masters Claim Gold Indoors

In a thrilling conclusion to the inaugural Regional Masters Indoor Tournament, hosted by Indoor Hockey UK, the South East Men’s Masters secured the gold medal after an impressive 3‑1 victory over the East Men’s Masters in the final.

In what many had billed as the showdown of the day, South East came out strong and took the lead early, dictating play and carrying momentum through the match. Their athleticism and tactical discipline paid dividends, and they ultimately prevailed 3‑1 to take the title. The East side fought hard but couldn’t overcome the resolute South East defence and slick transitions.

South East navigated the group and knockout rounds with consistent performances, showing both attacking verve and defensive solidity. The East team, meanwhile, impressed in their run to the final, earning their place through smart indoor hockey and gritty commitment.

For South East, the gold medal marks a fine achievement in the Masters category and sets a high bar for future editions. As this was the first time the regional masters indoor event has been staged, the victory has the added flavour of history‑making. It also underlines the depth of Masters hockey across the regions and the value of indoor competition in keeping the game dynamic and inclusive.

Following this tournament, Indoor Hockey UK and participating regions will be looking to build on this foundation, extending more Masters indoor opportunities and broadening participation. There are plans to expand to a two day event in August/September 2026. The South East squad will set sights on defending their title, while East will no doubt regroup and target a return visit to the final.
