South East Hockey Super 6s Finals

The South East Super 6s qualifiers were held on 16 and 17 December at Polo Farm Canterbury.

Five sides competed in the Women's qualifier.  Following a series of round robin games the final was a closely fought game between Old Georgians HC and Horsham HC.  Although the teams had previously played out a 2-2 draw in the round robin, Old Georgians were able to apply some consistent pressure in the final with goals from Emma Kramer and Tara Daly allowing them to win the qualifier for the second year running with a 2-0 victory.

The Men's qualifier was a busy affair with 12 teams competing - many for the first time.  The competition was divided into four groups of three with the winners of the groups going on to compete in the semi-finals.  With some groups being decided on goal difference, the semi-finals were between Brighton & Hove HC and Epsom HC and Folkestone Optimist HC and Tunbridge Wells HC.  After a full-time 1-1 draw Epsom won out against Brighton & Hove in a shoot out whilst Tunbridge Wells were able to rely on some of their experienced indoor players for a 4-1 win against Folkestone Optimist.  In the final Tunbridge Wells were again able to use their experience running out 6-0 winners against Epsom.  In a highly competitive 3rd/4th play-off Folkestone secured 3rd place with a 2-1 win.

With all sides playing at least 4 games each day it was a busy schedule for the umpires and the umpire coaches but as ever these events could not have happened without their magnificent support.

The winners join other South East teams in the National Super 6s.
