About
Sport Brighton is the University of Brighton's sport and physical activity services offering a wide range of programmes. With over 35 student sport clubs competing in the British Universities and Colleges sport (BUCS) leagues and events as well as other national and local competitions, we are dedicated to promoting excellence in University Sport.
Coaching
We are currently seeking passionate and dedicated coaches to join our team. As a coach with Sport Brighton, you will engage, develop and inspire students helping them achieve success both on and off the field.

Current Vacancies
Rates of pay vary between £15-£34 per hour depending on qualifications. Coaches should be qualified at the Level 2 or higher Coaching Award in their sport. Level 1s will be considered if the candidate also has notable experience where National Governing Bodies of that sport allow.
Coaching roles will commence mid-September 2026 and finish in April 2027 for teams in weekly BUCS competition, or June 2027 for those competing in one off events. Due to facility upgrades dates and times of training are correct at time of posting but are subject to change. We may also consider moving days/time to suit candidates’ needs.

Wednesday BUCS Fixtures.
Training and fixtures are at Stanley Deason Leisure Centre.
Level 2 Coaching Desired.
Expectations & Responsibilities
Coaches play a crucial role in the development of any sport and in the lives of the performers they coach. Good coaches ensure participants have positive experiences and are therefore likely to continue in their sport and achieve their potential.
As a coach, we expect you to facilitate and contribute towards the growth and development of both individual participants and collective teams. We expect you to put the students at the heart of everything you to do maximise their enjoyment, participation and development.
We expect coaches to deliver sport specific sessions, which meet the needs of those student athletes participating in club sessions. In accordance with Sport England, BUCS & NGB guidelines, we expect coaches to plan, implement, analyse and revise suitable coaching programmes.
Specific Responsibilities may include:
- Plan and lead weekly sessions that are appropriate for all individuals and the environment.
- Lead team selection and attend competitive fixtures to support the team.
- Support individual player development through a range of coaching styles and feedback mechanisms that meet the needs of the student athletes.
- Contribute to a positive coaching culture within Sport Brighton.
- Promote and maintain high standards of Health & Safety, Safeguarding, Best Practice and Wellbeing in line with Sport Brighton guidelines.
- Work with a student committee, other coaches and Sport Brighton to create an accessible and inclusive environment.
- To play a key role as a Sport Brighton member of staff, to actively support departmental goals and support students to understand the value of sport at university.
