South East Hockey Adult Super 6s 2022

Super 6s – South East Hockey – Women’s Qualifier

On 11 December the qualifying round for the South East Women's Super 6s was held at the state of the art indoor facility at St George’s College, Weybridge.  Teams from Old Georgians, Horsham, Woking and the Army competed for the one qualifying place.  Following very closely fought round robin matches where the winning margin was never more than one goal, the final was played between Old Georgians and the Army.  Old Georgians came away as 3-1 winners with goals from Nikki Lloyd (2) and Yazi Chahal – again a very close match with the 3rd goal only being scored after the Army had withdrawn their goalkeeper.  Horsham just pipped Woking for 3rd place with a shoot out deciding the minor places after an exciting 3- 3 draw !  Many thanks to all teams for participating – and special thanks to umpires Jason Davies, Ann Hopkins, Gareth Hinds and Debbie Garner and umpire coach Anne Bartley.

Super 6s – South East Hockey – Men’s Qualifier

On 17 December the Men competed for the one qualifying spot for the Men's Super 6s again at St George’s College, Weybridge.  With teams from Addiscombe, Brighton & Hove, Mid-Sussex, Epsom, Guildford and Woking the competition was close with Guildford and Epsom progressing to the final.  In a closely fought game Guildford’s Cam Baker converted a penalty corner to put Guildford 1-0 up and despite Epsom substituting their goalie for the final 5 minutes Guildford hung on to claim the qualifying spot.  Joint 3rd were the losing semi-finalists Woking and Brighton & Hove and 5th place went to Mid-Sussex with a 1-0 win over Addiscombe in the 5th/6th place playoff.  Many thanks to Debbie Garner and her team of excellent umpires and coaches.

Good luck to both winning teams and the other South East teams competing in the National Super 6s during January2023.
