Adult Competitions - Final divisions for 2024/2025 Season
The ALMC have now settled the divisions for next season and fixtures have now been generated and will soon be loaded on GMS. All of this information can be viewed using the link here.
There has been some re-structuring to take into account teams withdrawing - as well as new teams being added. The most significant changes are in the Oaks divisions.
The finalised divisions are attached.
We have retained the approach in Women’s Oaks Division 4 – this was supported by the majority of clubs who provided feedback. This structure – as with Invicta Women’s 6 will be kept under review.
The key change from the draft proposal is to introduce Men’s Oaks Division 5 East and West. There are a number of reasons for this change:
- A number of clubs did not want their teams moved to higher divisions which was leading to an overload in the lowest division;
- There were some late withdrawals which meant that numbers in the middle divisions were below 9 and so we needed to make adjustments to ensure that these divisions were as a minimum 10 or 11 – the aim is generally to have divisions of 12;
- In the past some clubs have asked us to look at a geographical split to help with travel times – this is especially important for lower sides who sometimes find it difficult to persuade players to travel longer distances especially when lower sides are allocated either the early or the later start times – if this approach doesn’t work it can be changed in the following season.
Fixtures are now being generated. This aim will be for fixtures to be available in early July to allow for bookings to be made before school terms end.
The new season will start on 21 September for most divisions. The exceptions are where the division has 13 or 14 teams when matches will start a week earlier and where the division has 9 or 10 teams when it will start a week later.
